Dr Kara Massie, Clinical Psychologist

Specialties include: college mental health, eating disorder treatment, sexual orientation and gender identity transitions, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for anxiety and mood disorders

Dr. Massie received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from Suffolk University in Boston. She completed her pre-doctoral internship with the Butler University Consortium in Indianapolis and her post-doctoral internship at Roger Williams University in Bristol.

Dr. Massie blends ACT with other clinical techniques in order to help clients learn to cope with painful thoughts and emotions while pursuing the facets of life they value most. She provides a safe, non-judgmental setting to explore life’s transitions and to gain self-awareness. Dr. Massie received her specialty training at the Charis Center for Eating Disorders in addition to a variety of university counseling centers. She has taught college courses in general psychology and human sexuality and has conducted research on sexual relationships and intimacy.
